What They Say...

Dear Ray,

I want to tell you what a great job you did as our Key Note Speaker at our Red River County 80th annual banquet.  It is always a pleasure to listen to a speaker that uses clean humor fit for the entire family.  Your speech was not only entertaining but also very informative; concerning the shop at home comments.  Many In the crowd told me that they agreed with what you had to say; and wished that everyone in the county could have heard you.  The workshop you held the morning after our Banquet was right on target.  We have already formed some committees to follow through with the information you taught us about shopping at home.  Ray, I recommend that every community have you come and talk to everyone that will listen.

Sincerely,
Jack Holt, President

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

It is my privilege on behalf of the Bastrop Morehouse Chamber of Commerce to recommend Ray Stone to you.  I am not a football fan and so I did not have any knowledge of Mr. Stone; however, his resume came across my desk as I was looking for a speaker for our Annual Banquet.  The reason I made the initial inquiry was because his thrust on economic development through realizing the importance of shopping at home caught my eye.  The very first conversation with Mr. Stone had me convinced that he was just what we needed - and I was certainly right.  At our banquet, we had more than 360 people in attendance, the largest banquet we have ever hosted.  The people in attendance are still talking about the banquet.  As I shared, I don't even like football and he kept me right with him!  His warmth and sincerity came through in all that he shared.  Whether you are a fan of the Cowboys or not, the stories about the players are incredibly interesting, funny and sometimes touching.  The next morning after the banquet, Mr. Stone spoke at an early morning business seminar / breakfast.  There were more than 50 individuals who attended the seminar and believe me they left feeling like it had been well worth their effort.  He was fantastic.  The information he shared was incredibly helpful and insightful.  I am still sharing the material with civic clubs and other groups as I go about my normal speaking engagements with the Chamber.  If you are looking for a speaker, Ray Stone may be your man.  I know he was ours and I am grateful to him for a great banquet and fantastic business seminar.

Sincerely,

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I am writing this letter to share with you the joy of having Ray Stone as our guest speaker recently at our Chamber of Commerce Banquet.  He did an outstanding job!  He delighted us with humorous stories of some of the great players, past and present, of the Dallas Cowboys.  We were captivated with every word he said.  Ray also spoke on the benefits of our community by shopping at home.  He generated a tremendous amount of interest in our community.  The fundraising items he provided were wonderful incentives and we auctioned them at the end of our banquet with awesome results.  Everyone is still talking about our banquet, and telling us it was the best banquet we have ever had.  Ray is a delightful man and I know your audience will love him.  I feel certain you will realize the kind of spirit he can generate.  I highly recommend him as your guest speaker for any organization looking for someone to lift your spirits and entertain their audience.

Sincerely,
Teresa Hobbs, Executive Director

Dear Ray,

On behalf of the National Association of Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Councils, I would like to thank you for being our awards banquet keynote speaker at our national conference in San Antonio July 23, 2003.  The 375 councils throughout the U.S., Pacific Basin and the Caribbeans had over 1,200 volunteers attending the conference.  Each one of these volunteers represents a community, county or parish in rural areas.  I heard nothing but praise on your inspiring talk on shopping at home.  You related to us because you come from a small town also.  The statistics that you quoted us about the struggle that small towns are having economically, hit home with all of us that live in small towns.  I feel that after your facts about what impact shopping away from home has on infrastructure, schools and merchants in small towns and a lot of us will think twice before we drive 10 or 15 miles to shop in the big city and start spending our dollars at home.  Ray, I hope you get to share your story all over Texas as well as other states.  I will be sending copies of your video on Economic Growth in Rural Communities to several RC&D Councils that have requested it.  It was an extreme pleasure meeting you and if l or any member of the RC&D family can ever be of assistance to you, please don't hesitate to call.  Gig 'Em Aggies and Go Cowboys.

Sincerely,
Joe Labarbera, Coordinator
